Collin R. Skocik
I wrote my first story in 1981 as a class project. It was called The Eyeball That Flew Across the City. My first grade teacher may well have regretted showing me how to staple notebook pages together to make a book, because I was soon writing more short books than I was completing homework assignments. I knew from pretty early in life that I wanted to be a writer.
Since graduating, I have continued my self-education, corresponding with engineers and technicians who build real spacecraft, meeting astronauts, and writing science fiction based on everything I learn. I was delighted when two of my articles received praise from astronaut Ed Mitchell.
In early 2009 I was taken on by Dr. Richard Kirby at Kepler Space University as Science Fiction Writer in Residence, and I have been writing science fiction stories for the university regularly.
My short fiction has been published in AlienSkin and Encounters magazines.
